We stopped being the Marriage Guidance Council on St Valentine’s Day in 1988.

We still find it hard to shake off the outdated image of ‘twinsets and pearls’ which many perceived as ethnocentric or homophobic.

We would like to dispel a few myths and confirm that we do work with the LGBT community or indeed anyone who wants to ‘fix’ their relationships.

We work with everyone respectfully but we don’t profess to know everything about every individual’s lifestyle or life choices. All of our counsellors are trained to ask questions about what people mean when they tell us about themselves, their current difficulties and how they can picture things being improved.
